Barrie Colts Announce Mind to Muscle as Partner in their Enhanced Sports Science & High-Performance Department
The OHL Barrie Colts are excited to unveil their newly structured Sports Science & High-Performance Department, designed to elevate player performance and development.
The team named Mind to Muscle their official training partner who will provide a managed approach to strength and conditioning, sport nutrition, mental performance, on-ice Sport Testing, Sweat Testing and player wellness.
Rick Schaly will continue to lead as the High-Performance Director. With extensive expertise in injury treatment, rehabilitation, sport performance, strength and conditioning, and orthopedic bracing, Rick brings a wealth of experience to the role. His background includes years as an OHL referee, international assignments as a Level 6 official, and a role as an NCAA scout, complementing his comprehensive hockey coaching experience.
Greg Eskedjian returns as the Sport Science Director. Greg holds a degree in Sports Medicine and a Master’s in Nutrition and also serves as the Director of High Performance and Sport Science at Mind to Muscle. With extensive coaching experience as the co-owner of Two-Way Hockey School, Greg has played professionally in both North America and Europe and has earned accolades as an NCAA National Champion and All-American.
Isaiah Moreira has been appointed as the team’s Strength Coach. Isaiah, who holds a degree in Kinesiology, a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), will bring his expertise to the Colts. At Mind to Muscle, Isaiah is the Head Coach and Director of the M2M Summer Hockey Program, managing elite players from the NHL, AHL, OHL, and NCAA.
In 2019, the Barrie Colts' Medical Team pioneered the Ontario Hockey League's first Sports Science Department, with the mission of enhancing on-ice performance and refining the team’s development model. The department’s primary goal remains to maximize the potential and growth of each athlete competing for the Barrie Colts at the OHL level.
